A Hatching Dinosaur that Grows from a Volcano. What Do Kids Really Think of This Toy?
This little toy is a dinosaur that hatches from a volcano and grows in water over a week. Here are a few official product photos from the web…
The instructions on the label are clear and well-written. After about 24 hours the dinosaur did begin to hatch and was out of the volcano, all on its own, by day 2. Every day for a week we checked on our little dinosaur to see how he was growing. The kids (6 and 8 years old) were excited to see his progress every day. See the photos below to check out his progress.
A few times I had to change the water due to the cloudiness that developed due to the volcano dissolving (at least I think that’s what it was).
This is a fun idea for a kids toy. Something that holds their attention as they anticipate a baby dinosaur, however, in the end, the toy itself wasn’t too impressive.

Overall Rating: The Good
Here are some quotes from my kids:
• We liked watching it grow.
• We liked that it felt squishy.
• It was big, but got smaller.
• If you put it in the bathtub and leave it water, the parts that are in the water get fatter again.
• I really like it in the bath to play with.
Overall Rating: The Bad
The dinosaur only grew about 2 times larger than when it first hatched. When it is out of the water, it shrinks and returns to it’s normal (original) size. The kids thought this was very disappointing. However, if you saturate it in water for a while, it grows again. My kids even had a few laughs soaking only his legs until they were 2 times larger than the rest of his body. Now that’s being creative!
