Alexandre Dumas
Alexandre Dumas wrote many of the world’s favorite classics like The Three Musketeers (1844), The Count of Monte Cristo (1844), The Black Tulip, Georges and even Le Vampire (1851 and 46 years before Bram Stoker’s Dracula). Most people don’t know that Alexandre Dumas based his most heroic and tragic characters on his father – Thomas Alexandre Dumas (aka Alex Dumas). Alex Dumas was the equivalent of a 4-star general during the French Revolution and equal to Napoleon! He was an incredible man, born the son of Marie-Cessette Dumas, an enslaved woman and a French aristocrat hiding out in Haiti. To learn more about three generations of greatness, click here.
