Crochet Wolf Boy & the Magical Warriors
As most of you know, I love amigurumi. I love seeing what people create and I am constantly making my own. After completing my Crochet Josephine Baker and the adorable Chibi Babies, I thought to myself, “why not make a crochet Wolf Boy?”
From Comics to Crochet
Wolf Boy & the Magical Warriors is our all-ages comic series. We have a FREE COMIC available (click here) and volume 1 will debut before the end of the year. It’s one of my favorite stories…that I co-wrote with Miguel.
Series Synopsis
As Wolf Boy, Monkey King and Tessi the Amazon wander through the ancient world, hijinks, magic and high-flying adventure weave their way through every volume. Only a few people alive today know that most epic disasters in history were caused by these three lovable buffoons.
This madcap trio sinks Atlantis, topples the Great Wall of China, destroys the Colossus of Rhodes, gets Socrates arrested and burns down the Library of Alexandria in Egypt.
Creating DIY Toys
Wolf Boy is all about having fun, so toys are a natural extension. And when you don’t have the resources to create test versions of toys, I do have plenty of yarn, hooks and imagination. I started with the main character – Wolf Boy – but I’ll also have chibi versions of Tessi the Amazon and Monkey King.
The most challenging part by far was reproducing Wolf Boy’s HAIR! Miguel designed a fantastic character with a crazy stand up on end hair style that took much thought and many, many, many test runs. Taking something from a comic page to a 3D crochet version was very challenging, but it’s all a rewarding adventure. Holding a toy of your character is a fantastic feeling. Especially when I show it to my kids friends and they immediately ask for one.
